What you do at Palais Rhoul when you do nothing

Some trips you barely come back from. You have seen everything, scheduled everything, ticked everything off. And you return exhausted from having been everywhere.
Some guests arrive at Palais Rhoul with a plan. Within two days, they have put it away. Not for lack of desire — but because something else has settled in. A quality of presence they were not looking for, and did not know they could still find.
The morning begins with breakfast served facing the lagoon. Sourdough bread from Rachida's clay oven — her starter dates to 1964. Eggs from the day. Fruit. No buffet, no queue, no noise. The sun rises over the water. There is nothing to do but watch.
The terrace is there for that. So is the pool. The spa is a few steps away — massages, hammam, reflexology — available on reservation, without urgency. You can go in the morning. Or the afternoon. Or not at all, if you would rather stay in your chair and watch the light shift across the lagoon.
Lunch is served on site: the catch of the day, vegetables from the desert greenhouses, organic cuisine prepared by Rachida. In the evening, Fayz takes over. Five choices per course, everything cooked to order. You eat when you like, facing the night over the lagoon.
In between, much can happen — or almost nothing. A boat trip if the mood comes. Kitesurfing if that is what you are here for. A rest if that is what you need. Palais Rhoul pushes you towards nothing. It simply holds whatever you are capable of being, that day.
This is a luxury that does not appear as a line item in a rate sheet. It is the result of a place built so that time moves differently within it.
Palais Rhoul offers 12 rooms, half-board and full-board options, a spa available on reservation, and experiences organised from the house. Breakfast is complimentary.
Reservations and enquiries by email only.
